Market research, Cortana for Android, page design of your application in the App Store - and other news of the week for a mobile developer

    Mobile addicts more and more

This was reported by the analytical company Flurry in its study. In order to assess the rapidly growing popularity of mobile applications, analysts measured how many times a day different users use mobile applications. It turned out that according to this parameter, players can be divided into three large groups: regular users (less than 16 times a day), superusers (16-60 times a day) and mobile-dependent (more than 60 times a day). Compared to the same quarter of 2014, in the second quarter of the current year, a significant increase is noted in all three categories, but the last type of users experienced the strongest growth. Having increased by more than one and a half times, their number amounted to 280 million people.

Flurry jokingly considered that if the entire mobile-dependent population of the planet united into one country, then it would have risen from the eighth to fourth place in the ranking of countries by population over the past year.

But the report also contained data useful for industry representatives about the growing popularity of specific types of applications. Unfortunately, in this rating, gaming applications are only in third place, although over the year users began to launch games as much as twice as often.

Runet users began to spend more on content

According to a study by Synovate Comcon, an analytic company, spending on Internet content in Russia is growing, but IAP in games is dropping. In the first half of 2015, spending on content such as games, e-books, software or movies in Russia increased by 23% On average, each user spent 130 rubles a month, with almost half of these funds spent on mobile games and applications.

Despite all this, in general, the number of paying Russian players in the mobile market has been decreasing, and the observed increase has occurred only due to price conversion in the App Store and Google Play, which is associated with a weakening ruble against the dollar. Not so long ago, the App Store introduced new prices for purchases in the Russian store, and perhaps this will improve the situation if the developers make a discount on content for Russia.

Report: App Store page elements that really matter to users

Tune.com analytics service did a little research and found out what factors in the design of applications are really important for users in deciding whether to download or not download the application from the App Store.

1000 American users of apple devices were interviewed and got about this picture. In my opinion, the data is rather unexpected, speculatively expected that screenshots and an icon will occupy the top of the rating, but it turned out that the description is the most important.

Cortana on Android, download for free, without SMS.

In May, Microsoft mentioned that its digital assistant Cortana will be released for iOS and Android platforms. And already on July 17, the beta version of Cortana for Android unexpectedly leaked into the network. Full apk, with the ability to install on your device, Karl! When asked how it turned out, the company replied that before the official release of the beta, a few weeks later tested this beta version on a small number of users in the US and China. It seems that the leak did not come from an employee, but from such a test user.

It looks like OS 4.4 (kitkat) or later is required to work. To work, you will also need an account at Microsoft "for cross-platform personalization." Anyone who is eager to try this early and fresh version can find the leaked apk. Or you can go the official way andregister with testers . Hmm, a weird and expected leak, to be honest.
