On September 5 of this year, Google announced ahead of schedule a “sunset” support for the SHA-1 encryption protocol (certificate signature) in Google Chrome, starting with version 39, which is expected at the end of September.
If in a nutshell, in the first quarter of 2015 with the release of Chrome version 41, connections to sites signed with a certificate with the specified algorithm will be considered unsafe.
