More than a year has passed since I first became acquainted with the phones of the THL company, namely with the THL W7s model. This model made a positive impression on me and performed well from an operational point of view. It became interesting what new can offer, what to surprise and what the company THL achieved during this period in the public sector.
It turned out that they have something to please. In this review I want to talk about the budget smartphone THL T11, built on the new 8-core MTK6592 Octa Core processor with a frequency of 1.7GHz. It is known for certain that the sensational flagship THL T100s became the ancestor of this model.
The size and dimensions of the model do not differ, with the exception of some small design elements (metal frames). THL T11 is a younger and cheaper model, in which the screen resolution is reduced from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 pixels, with the same screen diagonal (5 "). Also, the main 13 megapixel camera is replaced with 8 megapixels. In the review, detailed photos, examples of camera shooting, tests and my operating experience.

ThL T11 is built on an MT6592 octa-core processor with a frequency of 1.7 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot. The display has HD resolution and is protected by third-generation Corning Gorilla Glass tempered glass. The phone has two 8MP and 5MP cameras, two SIM slots, a 2750 mAh battery, OTA, OTG and NFC functions.

The white company box has not changed over the year, only the inscription has changed. The new company logo is now written not in capital letters as before “THL”, but in capital letters “thl”. The box is made of thick cardboard, which protects the phone and accessories well from any external influences.
In addition to the smartphone, the kit included: a charger with a plug for our sockets, a USB cable, a wired headset, a protective film and documentation in English.
A neat charger from the 220V network, the output current of the charge is 1 A, it charges stably and without overheating. Full charge time is 2.5-3 hours.
The USB data cable is of good quality; it fits tightly into the microUSB connector. The wired headset is budget, for high-quality listening to music is not suitable. With normal headphones, the phone produces a wonderful sound.
The manufacturer indicated a capacity of 2750 mAh on the battery, the battery weight is slightly more than 42 grams (which indirectly hints at a real capacity of at least 2500 mAh). The phone, along with the battery, weighs exactly 142 g.
A transport protective film is glued on the screen (it can be easily removed) and below it is another factory-made one. Since the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 3, I don’t see the need for a protective film. However, the manufacturer has equipped the phone with an additional protective film (can be glued if desired). The kit also has an English manual and two NFC tags.
The phone is available in white and black. The back cover is made of plastic with a matte surface (it does not slip in the hands, fingerprints are almost invisible). The lid closes tightly and in order to open it for the first time I needed a plastic card. On top, where the microUSB and 3.5mm audio jacks are located, as well as below, where a microphone and a slot for removing the back cover of the phone are located, there is plastic with a corrugated surface. I did not find any play or creaks, even with very strong pressure on the screen and the case. Monolithic glass is flush with the rest of the elements.
THL T11 has an original corporate design with pronounced angular shapes and ergonomic rounding of the side faces. The black color of the case merges with the black color of the screen. General appearance and design creates a pleasant impression of the phone at the level of world brands. Dimensions of the device are: 144.3 x 70.4 x 8.4mm with a weight of 142 grams.
On the front panel there is a 5-inch capacitive touch screen, a slot for the earpiece, a front camera, three touch buttons "menu", "home" and "back", a slot for the microphone, as well as proximity and light sensors. To the right of the grill that covers the speaker is an event indicator that lights red during battery charging. Touch keys have a bluish backlight.
On the rear panel there is a camera lens, LED flash, an external speaker slot (the sound is quite loud) and the manufacturer’s logo and an additional noise reduction microphone. The camera does not protrude above the body and almost merges with it. The surface of the lid is rough, does not slip in the hands. The body is pleasant to the touch and almost does not get dirty with fingerprints.
On the right side is a lock button. To unlock, you do not need to reach out with your second hand - everything is clearly under the thumb (for righties).
On the left is the volume rocker.
The upper end is occupied by a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microUSB connector. THL T11 supports working with Flash-drives via USB-interface (OTG).
At the bottom there is a recess for removing the rear panel and a microphone hole.
The phone has a classic design with the correct shapes. If you look at it in profile, you can see how its back cover gently bends. The phone lies well in the hand, like a glove and does not slip out.
THL T11 has a comfortable size and shape (rounded edges, bevels above and below), it is very convenient to use it with one hand. All keys have a pleasant, tight stroke and are easily searched blindly. You can easily reach almost anywhere on the screen with your fingers.
Removing the back cover (lying tight), we see the battery, slots for SIM-cards (mini and micro) and microSD cards. On the inside of the lid there is an NFC antenna.
To see the inside of the device, I disassembled it by unscrewing a total of 15 screws. It should be noted that one of the screws has a warranty sticker (it can be removed without damaging it with an ordinary needle).
After I unscrewed all the screws, I divided the case into two halves with a plastic card. Having removed part of the case, I got access to the insides.
A very competent arrangement of parts, with the naked eye it is clear that the main goal of the developers is to maximize the free space for the battery, without increasing the thickness of the case.
THL T11 received a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with IPS matrix of high contrast. It has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a density of 294 PPI. The display is made using GFF technology (similar to OGS) - a technology that combines the display and the sensor / glass into a single unit, which will reduce the thickness of the device, make the image clearer and increase sensitivity.
The display gives a very bright and saturated picture with excellent color reproduction. Viewing angles close to 180 °. Multitouch up to 10 touches is supported. The sensitivity is good, I did not reveal any problems with the touch screen. The screen is protected by third generation Corning Gorilla Glass. At maximum backlight, the screen remains readable under the bright rays of the sun.
The MT6592 Octa Core has a 4-core Mali-450MP4 video accelerator with a frequency of up to 700 MHz, which is approximately 2 times faster than the Mali-400MP2 installed in MT6582. MT6592 Octa Core is executed in a modern 28nm process technology, 8 Cortex-A7 cores with a frequency of 1.7 GHz are integrated. The L2 cache of the second level is increased to 1MB, the supported memory is LDDR2 533MHz / DDR3 666MHz and 13MP cameras. Video recording can be done in 1080P 30fp, 1080P 30fps H.264 decoding, as well as in 2 new HEVC / H.265 and VP9 formats. In addition to this, the device has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded using microSD memory cards.
As a result, the device turned out to be really impressive among the brothers of the Chinese and top-end smartphones from world brands. The test results confirm this:

Smartphone can easily handle high-quality video with such hardware including popular formats like avi, mpeg and mkv. In addition, he can handle most modern 3D games.

The MT6592 Octa Core processor is energy-efficient, i.e. It works at the frequency that is required at one time or another, depending on the tasks, and also perfectly goes into deep sleep.
THL T11 supports two SIM cards (one of which is a micro form factor). The interface and settings of SIM-cards are standard for MTK chipsets. In the settings you can select the main card for calls, SMS and mobile Internet. Also, the color of the honeycomb is adjusted there. I did not find any problems with voice communication or data transfer. The smartphone holds the signal perfectly. It is notable for the presence of the full range of WCDMA 850/1900 / 2100MHz, in many Chinese phones 1900 is missing.
The phone has a Wi-Fi module standard 802.11 a / b / g / n, any glitches and dumps are not found. The test was carried out directly near the access point, through one and two brick walls. I also found out that the WiFi module of the phone can work in 5Ghz networks.
GPS works well, at the analogue level: after 5 seconds, I found 10 satellites out of 13 possible at the window. Conclusion: the phone can be fully used as a navigator in the car.
THL T11 supports Bluetooth 4.0, with stereo headsets it connects without problems and transmits the stereo signal in good quality, without interference and noise.
The sound in the phone is good, especially the main speaker, I have not heard such a combination of volume, clarity and high-quality sound in Chinese devices for a long time. The microphone is sensitive both on the street and indoors, the earpiece is loud, and it is perfectly audible to both the interlocutor and me.
THL T11 runs on the Android operating system version 4.2.2 with full support for the Russian language. The interface flies, applications open almost instantly, turning pages without brakes.
Immediately updated the firmware (04/01/14) to the latest (06/23/14), a small instruction with links to all the necessary software:

Install:
1) Unpack the archives SP Flash Tool, MT6592 USB VCOM and archive with firmware
2) Turn off the smartphone. The cable is not connected to the computer.

4) We connect the phone to the computer with a cable. The operating system will find a new device - indicate the system folder with the MT6592 USB VCOM driver (for your OS version)
5) Disconnect the cable from the computer
6) Run the SP Flash Tool
7) Click on the Download_Agent button and select the file MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin (it lies in the folder with the program)
8) Click on the Scatter-loading button and select the file MT6592_Android_scatter.txt (it lies in the folder with the firmware).
9) Click the Download button.
10) We connect the phone to the computer with a cable. The program should see it and start the firmware.
11) A green circle with the inscription “OK” will confirm the successful completion of the firmware process. After the end of the firmware, turn off the phone.
12) Done.
The appearance of the system is classic and strict in beautiful black and blue colors (OTA - a wireless update is present)
The firmware contains the main Google services, including the Play Store and other standard stock Android applications (audio and video players, calculator, clock, etc.) . Also added: file manager, notes and flashlight and several more applications.
One of the innovations is the presence of the NFC module and firmware for working with it.
I would like to note the presence of “Smart Wake”, this function allows you to control your phone with the help of touches and gestures on the screen off. Examples of gestures: swipe up - unlock a smartphone; draw "c" - the dialer; swipe down - start the camera, draw "e" - start the browser.

In general, the phone’s interface is clean, i.e. not overwhelmed with excess software and devoid of shell from the manufacturer. For a change, some add-ons have been added, such as the Float App, as well as those related to sound enhancement (BesAudEnh and BesLoudness). ClearMotion allows you to make the image on the TV smoother and sharper. You can also calibrate the accelerometer, proximity sensor, etc.
Both cameras pleased with the quality of the pictures. The rear camera has a real resolution of 8 megapixels and is capable of taking pictures with a resolution of up to 4096x3072 pixels, which are software interpolated at 13 megapixels. There are autofocus and a bright flash. HDR support allows you to take pictures with an extended light range. Autofocus responds quickly to changing situations in the frame and allows you to shoot close objects (you can also specify the focus area manually).
The front camera resolution is 5 megapixels, software interpolated to 12 megapixels. The camera works well, the pictures are very good, there is also autofocus.
Since a blue protective film was pasted onto the rear camera at the factory, the camera may be mistaken with white balance and sharpness of shots, so it must be removed.

The battery capacity indicated by the manufacturer is 2750 mAh, the time for a full charge from a native charger (1 A) takes 2.5 - 3 hours, while the battery charges up to 4.3V. In the playback mode of the video clip 720p_100fps with maximum brightness, the smartphone lasted 6 hours. In standby mode, the phone holds very well, with Wi-Fi, GPS and mobile network turned on, the phone lost 15% of the charge in 3 days: I had a
full charge for two days (tests, internet, video, games and music). If you actively use games and videos, then you need to count on one daylight (9-12 hours, depending on the intensity of the passage of games).
For the price of 7900r, THL T11 deserves the highest rating. The new 8-core processor and 2GB of RAM are enough for all tasks, including modern heavy 3D games. The Chinese smartphone market has truly reached a new level of quality.
