MakeItLab at Innoprom 2014 exhibition

A year ago, when our hackspace was just born, we managed to visit Innoprom 2013 as regular visitors. Innoprom is such an all-Russian industrial exhibition, which takes place annually in Yekaterinburg. This year, the exhibition was dedicated to intelligent technologies, all kinds of robots and automation systems.

Then, in 2013, the exhibition was remembered by several worthy exhibits, including the humanoid robot from Android Technologies and the company FlyKit, which is engaged in aerial photography from multicopters. Exactly one year passed, and we were able to participate in this large-scale event already with our stand! About the experience of participation, and about the projects presented by us, I will briefly tell in this photo article.

    What was at our stand

First, of course there were 3D printers. Due to the fact that in our hackspace the concentration of these machines is several times higher than the average for the city, we were given a stand with an area of 9 squares free of charge. And the organizers of the industrial design forum did this good deed, which drove the 1st pavilion of the exhibition, for which they are very grateful.

So, we needed a trouble-free printer. For these purposes, we chose the Chinese Duplicator 3. We take it to all seminars and workshops on 3D printing, and it prints and prints everything like a clock.

By the way, at the exhibition we mainly printed such cats here :) This is a three-dimensional copy of the cat from our certificates for 3D printing.

Further, I wanted to show that our hackspace did something in the field of 3D printing. Specially for the exhibition, we have assembled a new printer with an atypical positioning system. In fact, they moved the step for the X axis from the movable carriage to the body. As always, they did everything on the last day, so the working prototype of the machine could only be installed on the stand by the beginning of the second day :)

But the chocolate printer has not undergone any major changes since the winter 3D-Expo. Replaced only electronics. They drew text and strange patterns with chocolate on paper, to the delight of visitors.

Educational robotics is another area in which we have been actively working for the past year. At the booth, we posted our ubiquitous blue walking robot and the new model of the multiplo-compatible robot MR-K-2. The latter is the second version of the mobile robot, for which we do courses on robotclass.ru. I will write about this endeavor later in a separate article.

And of course, we brought our Karel (aka Fritz) to the exhibition, who closely monitored his future victims in passing exhibition visitors.

By the way, Fritz became a participant in a significant event. One of the curious visitors expressed interest in our 3D printers, and casually said that he was a little engaged in machine vision. In response to my phrase that we also deal with machine vision. For example, we use the popular OpenCV package. The man modestly said that he created OpenCV. It was Gary Bradski, president and CEO of the OpenCV Foundation. Fotopruf:

We exchanged mail, we will cooperate :) A very cool acquaintance for our hackspace.

But these legs were brought to us by their creator and our colleague Dmitry Popov! It can be seen that the whole structure is printed on a 3D printer. In the nodes of the legs are robo-servos with a moment of 18kg / cm. The next step is to attach at least some basin and make them walk. That is, 1% of the work has been done so far, but the author is full of determination :)

Another creation of Dmitry is hexapods. I will not call him a spider, for two more legs are missing. The piece was very high quality. There was only 2mm duralumin and a router on hand, so the casing turned out to be with excessive strength, but you can at least send it into battle. In addition to the robot itself, Dmitry has developed a glamorous control interface for a tablet with a touchscreen.

    More printers

Our 3D printer (again Chinese, but already Malyan) was also at the stand of the UBRD bank. He printed two-tone logos, surrounded by charming beauties :)

Printers were also seen on the stand of Sberbank. Logos were also printed :)

Ural Federal University did not stand aside. They showed two printers at the exhibition: ordinary FDM and gypsum polymer. The last, by the way, is commanded by another of our associates, Yuri Avraamov, director of the Center for Prototyping and Prototyping of UrFU (in the second photo).

What other robots and machines were at the exhibition

Caterpillar robots lived right next to our booth, on which authors periodically rode :) (see the video at the end of the article)

One even talked to visitors with an eerie accent of the Shelezyak planet. Around him the whole exhibition was gathering people trying to get out of him the answer to the main question of life, the universe and all that.

    image

There were a number of industrial robots that are constantly present at such exhibitions: Kuka, Fanuc.

A couple of multicopter. Unfortunately, without much innovation, standard components. In general, we wanted to bring our quadrocopter, but did not have time to prettify it, because the printer took all the resources.

In the cluster “Russian Robotics”, in the third pavilion, EMERCOM robots were spotted. They can put out a fire, grab someone with a claw.

A vigorous turret circled in an endless waltz :)

In different pavilions, here and there, strange robots outraged. Handing out leaflets to people.

    image

There was also our old familiar android from Magnitogorsk, which we saw at the last exhibition. Next to him was another robot that could repeat the movements of the operator in the exoskeleton.

    image

Finally, there were stands at all famous local schools of robotics at the exhibition. The robotodromes of our Youth Palace were also presented there.

In general, there were a lot of young people, and it pleases. Children in crowds surrounded all the stands, where something was moving and talking.

A small video of what was happening around our booth all four days of Innoprom.

In general, the exhibition was not in vain for us. Firstly, we introduced a lot of people to 3D printing. I hope that soon every competent citizen will know what it is. Secondly, we met a bunch of interesting people who immediately after the innoprom came to us in hackspace. Thirdly, we found potential buyers and investors for our developments. So we are waiting for the next innovation industry, new projects from MakeItLab!

By the way, as promised, after the Innoprom we begin to prepare the next conference on robotics in Yekaterinburg. Plus, this Sunday we are organizing collective flights on multicopters and helicopters. Announcements will be on social networks ( VK and FB ) and on the site .
