Live Video from the ISS in HD Quality: High Definition Earth Viewing

I don’t know why, but the news that the ISS began broadcasting in HD-quality somehow passed by Habr. But this is a new experiment, which started on April 30 this year.

Within the framework of the project, several very high-quality HD video cameras aimed at the Earth were installed. The cameras, as you can understand, are located outside the ISS, on the skin, but are enclosed in a housing with controlled pressure and temperature.

The view is constantly changing, broadcasting is carried out from different cameras in turn.

Of course, there are periods when communication with the ISS is lost by the ground station, in addition, the station is periodically in the shadow, so it is unlikely to see anything at the appropriate time. With the exception of these periods, everything is perfectly visible.

In general, it’s even somehow unusual to look at our Earth “from the outside”, and we are not looking at the pictures, but viewing the video stream in real time.
