Sony Xperia Ear Duo Headset Assistant Receives Important Update
At the beginning of the year, Sony Mobile at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona introduced the Xperia Ear Duo, an unusual assistant headset with the concept of “open sound, implying a total lack of sound insulation. The user of the gadget can listen to music, notifications, talk on the phone and at the same time communicate with other people, order food and drinks in restaurants, hear announcements at airports, approach vehicles during runs.
The design of the Ear Duo was designed in such a way that both the sound in the headphones and the surrounding world were equally well heard by the user. The spatial acoustic conductor transmits the sound directly into the ear, and thanks to the support ring around the ear canal, the music or the work of the assistant does not interrupt the external sounds. However, the feature of the gadget is not only in an unusual landing inside the auricle. Sony uses a proprietary processor CXD5602, which integrates an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and other sensors that analyze data about the time, location, and activity of the user.
The processor and additional sensors are needed to implement the Daily Assist feature - a corporate assistant who tells the owner of Xperia Ear Duo important information, for example, can read news on the way to work or remind of meetings upon arrival at the office. In September, the headphones received a major update of software and companion apps for smartphones with significant improvements in the work of the assistant. Now, headphones can read the text of incoming notifications and call the caller's name when an incoming call is received, and this is available not only on smartphones running Android, but also on iPhone users. And only for Android was added the ability to customize the gesture on the touchscreen of the headphones for the voice of the current time.
With this software update in Xperia Ear DuoDynamic Normalizer technology has also been added, with which the headphones adjust to the level of ambient noise and automatically adjust the volume. In addition, Sony engineers have improved and optimized the previously implemented functions, for example, Ear Duo now more accurately determine the movement of the head used to control, improved overall sound quality, improved algorithms for suppressing extraneous noise and wind during a call. As for compatibility with voice assistants, the gadget still allows you to use Siri on iOS and Google Assistant on Android, and in addition, Ear Duo is Russia's first headset with support for Alice from Yandex.
