Microsoft has developed a tactile touch 3D screen

Microsoft introduced a three-dimensional touch screen, which is equipped with a tactile feedback system (Actuated 3-D Display with Haptic Feedback). A message about this was published on the website of Microsoft Research . Thanks to the company's new technology, users will be able to literally touch what they see on the screen.

The user can feel with his fingers the objects that he sees on the screen, using a special manipulator arm that moves the screen back and forth. The transfer of tactile sensations from virtual objects is achieved by moving the screen. The objects themselves can be touched (display movements convey the shape and size) and moved with your fingers (here the mass of the object is also transmitted).

In the demonstration, you can see how cubes of stone, wood and foam are “thrown” out of the screen, and the experimenter’s finger feels the greatest resistance when trying to move a stone cube from its place.

The developers of the system believe that it can be used in medicine - and, of course, in video games ( we leave here the widest scope for imagination ).
