Wikileaks published a five-hour conversation between Eric Schmidt and Julian Assange

A rather interesting conversation between Eric Schmidt and Julian Assange got on the Web, being published on Wikileaks.org. This is a text transcript of the audio recording, the conversation itself took place in 2011. As mentioned above, the conversation came out quite long, five hours - this is not “hello” and “bye” to you. The conversation is interesting in that it gives an idea of the views on some issues of network security and other problems of both Schmidt and Assange.

The conversation begins with a discussion of Bitcoin, Schmidt's negative experiences with Delta Air Lines and other issues. After some time, the issues discussed only concerned Wikileaks and the principles of this resource. For example, Assange reported that his colleagues and he himself were not able to filter out all published information, that even if you wanted to choose what to publish, it was impossible.

In addition, Assange answered Schmidt’s questions about published government documents, which are mainly dominated by documents of Western politicians / organizations. When asked why Wikileaks did not publish information regarding African juntas and dictators, Assange replied that there was certain information, but for the most part these documents were by no means in English. Plus, many government organizations in Africa are simply not connected to the Web. Of course, this makes it difficult to obtain all kinds of documents.

I repeat, the conversation is interesting in that the conversation “sees” a living person, and not an abstracted figure, filtered out by the media. A complete recording of the conversation can be found here .
