Kinect Fusion can help surgeons
Held on last week TechFest was presented the system , showing how Kinect Fusion can be useful in operating theaters. This invention will help neurosurgeons literally “look into the head” of the patient before starting the operation.
A tablet with a Kinect sensor mounted on it, as well as digitized brain scan results, you can create an image of the patient’s head, “supplemented” with a 3D model of the brain, blood vessels or other medical data. The resulting image can be viewed from all sides, allowing you to determine the optimal place to start the operation.
This concept once again demonstrates that Kinect has long gone beyond the scope of the entertainment industry and will soon be able to find application in various areas of our lives.
