Today in Barcelona, ​​the world premiere of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z tablet took place. The device was first introduced back in January, but then it was a presentation for the Japanese market. Today, the company officially announced the launch of the tablet in world markets, including Russia.

The 10.1-inch tablet is an independent development of Sony Mobile, a relative of Xperia smartphones - unlike previous tablets developed by Sony Electronics and which were closer to Vaio laptops.

In principle, those who closely monitor the tablet market are already aware of the characteristics according to the Japanese premiere. I wrote about him and on Habré . However, today for the first time I can tell you more about it, as well as answer some questions related to it.

To be precise, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is the brother of the Sony Xperia Z, as the name clearly indicates, and it has an almost identical filling - adjusted for the form factor, of course.

Appearance and ergonomics

The first thing you notice when you pick it up is that it’s easier than you might expect. In your pocket and weight, every hundred grams becomes overweight, so less than half a kilogram of weight is written into the unique asset of Tablet Z. Immediately after the weight, pay attention to how thin it is - 6.9 mm from the display to the back cover.





The back cover, by the way, is made of velvety soft-touch plastic - unlike the glass surface of the Xperia Z. Presumably, this is also a hi of greater shock resistance, and one of the reasons for the ease of the whole device. Along the perimeter, the case is edged with fiberglass to the color of the case - that is, black or white. There will be no purple tablet like Xperia Z):
There are connectors on the perimeter: combined HDMI + MicroUSB MHL port, 3.5 mm audio jack, connectors for MicroSD and SIM cards.

I already wrote that the extensive experience in producing secure Sony smartphones was not in vain - with each new generation, protection It remains just as reliable, but it’s becoming less noticeable, and the devices are becoming more civilian. Tablet Z is no exception, it’s impossible to guess that it is not afraid of either water jets or immersion, and the plugs are very compact, elegant and can be easily opened / closed.

The infrared port is also located on the top end - after setting up the Tablet Z, you can use it as a remote control, and the volume rocker is also placed on the side end.

Another important ergonomic point - the location of the start buttons of the music player and the camera on the lock screen is calibrated so precisely that the thumbs literally fall on them. Their course is also optimal - a short movement with your thumb, and you have a camera or player running.

Performance

A widely distributed video from the Japanese presentation of the Xperia Tablet Z caused lively holivars in connection with the slowing down of the interface seen on it when scrolling through pages.
