Google has invested $ 200 million in a wind farm

Google, in addition to its main projects, has long been engaged in investing in various kinds of "green" projects. A number of such projects recently included a Texas wind farm, in which Dobra Corporation has invested about $ 200 million. This is not a voluntary donation, but an investment, which, according to company representatives, may well pay off.
Spinning Spur Wind Project produces 161 megawatts of energy, which is enough to provide 60 thousand households. The power plant includes 70 “windmills” that produce energy. The facility began operating at full capacity at the end of 2012. One of the senior managers of the company said that he considers the investment of $ 200 million in the "wind farm" a smart investment.
It is worth noting that the company's data centers, if they work at full capacity at the same time, will consume about 476 megawatts of energy. This is enough to provide energy to all houses in such a big city like San Diego. True, the company itself states that at full capacity at the same time, all data centers never work.
By the way, this project is already the tenth in a row, starting in 2010 (it was then that the corporation first invested heavily in green technologies for the first time). This is the second largest investment, which is second only to an investment of $ 280 million in Solar City; it is a company working in the field of solar energy. Of the 10 investments in green projects, 5 were made in projects related to wind energy, and 5 were made in projects related to solar energy.
The total investment by Google in alternative energy, so to speak, is already 1 billion US dollars. Company representatives said that these 10 projects are capable of producing about 2 gigawatts of energy per year, which is enough to provide 500 thousand houses a year.
