Valve plans to release "PC for the living room" under Linux
Of course, neither Steam's release for Linux, nor the emergence of Big Picture mode was an accident. Gabe Newell, Valve's chief executive, said in an interview with Kotaku that “living room PCs” with Linux-based Valve software could be bought next year. He expects similar PCs from various manufacturers to compete with next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
“I think most users and developers will understand that PCs are what they need,” says Newell. “Because they don’t have to think about different platforms and make choices. I hope we can combine all the environments in one. ” He also believes that other manufacturers will also release similar PCs for those who are not satisfied with the configuration from Valve.
