The recently created media committee, headed by deputy Alexei Mitrofanov, intends to take the initiative to expand the list of data provided by users on social networks.

The initiators of the proposal explain this proposal by the need to combat the spread of child pornography, slander, etc. Experts believe that so far there is no question of tightening the screws, but only if such amendments to the law do not pull other restrictions.

Thoughts Aloud:

We all understand that the attackers with whom the initiators of this proposal want to fight will not enter their original data during registration. It's no secret that on the Internet, everything is bought and sold. This also happens with passport data that is safely sold on the Internet. Link
Hacked user accounts that can be used by cybercriminals are also sold. Link

At the moment, two questions arise: How is it still planned to check the passport data for accuracy, as well as how they plan to deal with already registered users.

Owners of social networks are concerned that if this bill is introduced, people will simply stop registering on social networks.
