Sony opened Floating touch API

Floating touch, or "soaring touch" - technology that allows you to control the touch screen without directly touching the display.

This Sony development was first introduced this spring on the Xperia Sola smartphone , and with the recent update it has become more effective by acquiring another useful skill called glove mode - now the Sola screen can be controlled even when wearing gloves. A killer feature in anticipation of winter.

As for the “floating touch” itself, up to now it has not been fully enjoyed by the rather narrow application possibilities, which are limited to highlighting links in the smartphone’s native browser. However, this situation should now change - along with the latest Ice Cream Sandwich update for Xperia sola, the Floating touch API has become available - and each developer will be able to use the contactless control capabilities in his application. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

See the Floating Touch API tutorial by Andreas Sandblad, Sony software architect, for more on this with code examples .

In the comments, I propose to fantasize on the topic of which floating touch applications can be used with the greatest benefit.
