Minecraft developer Marcus Pearce (Notch) received a letter from Microsoft offering help with Minecraft certification for Windows 8, but in response asked "to stop trying to destroy the PC as an open platform."
He later explained that he would rather put up with the impossibility of launching Minecraft on the Windows 8 platform than with the current state of things. Maybe, Notch said, in this way you can discourage even a couple of people from Windows 8.
