Rovio earned 100 million USD, plans an IPO

In 2011, the game was downloaded 648 million times, given the versions for all platforms. An active monthly audience of 200 million people. Few games in the world boast such a wide audience. This is far from the limit: the beginning of 2012 looks very promising for Rovio. The growth in sales is greatly helped by the increasing popularity of smartphones and tablets among the population. The new Angry Birds Space series has been downloaded over 50 million times in 35 days after the release.

    According to analystsThe market value of Rovio is now about $ 9 billion, which is an excellent position for an IPO. For comparison, the capitalization of another Finnish company Nokia is currently fluctuating around $ 12 billion. Comparing Rovio and Nokia looks like nonsense, but this is a realistic assessment of the prospects for their business. Rumor has it that in the summer of 2011 Zynga tried to buy Rovio for $ 2.25 billion, but the negotiations were unsuccessful.

    Perhaps the placement of Rovio shares will take place next year in New York or Gonkog. Until this time, Rovio plans to release several more games, and not just the next Angry Birds sequels, but completely new games.
