In Krasnodar, Yota disables WiMAX base stations in advance
In Krasnodar, Yota disables some WiMAX base stations and are not going to turn them on until LTE is introduced. Leaving users who paid for the Internet without a paid service.
Three days ago I ran into a problem, before that a great signal from Yota, almost completely disappeared. The connection was barely established for a very short time and then broke off until the next reboot of the modem. The speed was no more than 50kb / s and a huge ping. Since the base station to which I connected from me is 200 meters away and in direct line of sight, it was clear that there were problems with this station. The first day without the Internet, I did not contact technical support, since it was Sunday and Easter, the Internet is not really needed on such a day.
The next morning, Monday, the signal remained at the current zero level and I had to make calls and find out what the problems were and when they were resolved.
Next, I will describe the chronology of communication with Yota technical support.
On the first day of calls, polite operators reported that an accident had indeed occurred at the base station and repair work was ongoing. This surprised me, because the roof on which the Yota antennas are located is clearly visible from the window and I have not been watching anyone there all day. The operators promised that during this day the work would be completed and even reported that they would notify me with SMS about the completion of work.
The next day (already 3rd) the Internet did not appear, but the version about the cause of the accident had already appeared - there was a power outage at the base station and as a result there was a failure, the consequences of which are still eliminated by specialists who have not appeared on the roof of the station and that today the station will work again. Deciding to check, maybe they really work somewhere in the afternoon, went to this building and already learned there that during these 2 days no experts from Yota were seen. Then I already found out at the local forum that in many places in the city, users faced the same problems, but they were already informed in technical support that their stations were simply turned off and would only work when LTE was launched in Krasnodar, which would happen no earlier than April 28 .
In my last conversation with the operators, only after a direct question about whether my base station will be repaired or if it will work with the launch of LTE they still answered, it will not be repaired, but it will be turned on along with LTE, like other disconnected ones in the city, though they did not forget to apologize for this, due to the fact that I will not be able to use the already paid services for more than 10 days. The fact that they deliberately misled me for two days and reassured everyone that they would fix it soon, they did not admit.
This is how Yota switches to LTE in Krasnodar. Probably for such a company for 15 days to leave their customers who paid not cheap tariffs, without the services provided is considered in the order of things.
