Google launches digital magazine for iOS and Android

The new Google Currents app is a digital magazine for iOS and Android that includes full-text articles from over 180 publications. Now the application is available only to American users in the Android Market and in the Apple App Store .

Google Currents takes content from the sites you read and reformats it into a more digestible format optimized for tablets and phones. If you are familiar with the Flipboard application, then this is almost the same idea - turning web content into magazines.

Optimized for phones and tablets, Currents offers text, audio, photos and videos, including offline, as well as the ability to connect user Google+ and Google Reader accounts along with RSS, video and photo streams.

Newer materials are brought to the fore in the app. Every hour, Google Currents creates a set of publications, tracking the latest relevant materials from various categories, including the world, entertainment, sports and science. For each material, related articles, videos, and photographs are shown.

Of course, the application is integrated with social networks, which makes it possible to share your favorite materials, photos and videos via Google+, Twitter, email and other ways. If you use multiple devices with one Google account, then all your subscriptions will be synchronized on all devices.
