Personal data from the FIU hit the Internet

A file with data on clients of the Pension Fund of Russia (PFR) was published on the fund’s website - full name, taxpayer identification number, information on insurance and funded contributions can be found through a Yandex search, Russian News Service reported citing one of the fund’s clients. Now access to the file on the website of the Pension Fund is closed, however, the file containing more than 1000 entries was saved in the Yandex cache.

“This file is available for download for any Internet user. Yandex releases sensitive data into the search. I began to check my data and accidentally found this file, which contains data about payers. We go to the site and there are his last name, first name and patronymic, TIN, amount of payment, insurance, funded part and much more, ”radio listener Nikolai said on the air of the Russian News Service.

The appearance of this information in the public domain is the result of a technical error, the PFR representative Marita Nagoga told Vedomosti. According to her, information about individual entrepreneurs who have arrears of insurance premiums has become publicly available. The leak is local in nature - information has appeared on the Internet about 600 debtors in several areas of the Tver region, she emphasizes. Access to the file was closed about an hour after the error was detected, but Yandex managed to index it - today by 15.00 the search engine promises to block access to this information, says Nagoga. The information contained in the file does not apply to personal data, she emphasizes. The PFR data file was indexed not only by Yandex - links to information from it are also found in Mail.ru and Bing searches.
