Export to ODT and recognize old texts online now

imageHello everyone from the FineReader Online development team .
When they wrote on this blog that ABBYY FineReader 11 became closer to Linux users because it can export to ODT, we were laughed a bit at in the comments. Yes, you were probably right. We understood our mistake and corrected - now you can get a qualitatively recognized file in ODT format from a picture without moving from Linux, even under a virtual machine with Windows. Among the export formats, FineReader Online is so beloved by many users of the free Open Document Text free software.

imageBut of course, we did not stop adding a new export format. Our blog has repeatedly talked about various projects for digitizing libraries, where we recognized publications printed in old "Gothic" fonts. Functionality for this has long been present in our "large" products, which are implemented in large organizations. But what about people who need to digitize Gothic texts on a non-industrial scale? Until recently, the answer was one: you have to retype. And now they can use FineReader Online for these purposes.
So far, we recognize only gothic texts in two languages in our online service - German and Latvian. But, firstly, they make up more than 90% of all texts typed by these beautiful, but very inconvenient for recognition fonts, and secondly in the very near future we will add other two European languages to these two.
By the way, very soon we will expand the functionality of our service a little more. When this happens, the first who will know about it will be the subscribers of our blog on Habré. So go to ABBYY's profile and click on the heart so as not to miss this and other valuable information first hand.
