Microsoft has signed up for deductions for more than half of Android devices

Microsoft continues to sign licensing agreements with manufacturers of Android devices. The next licensee, who agreed to pay deductions from each device, was Taiwan-based Compal , one of the largest ODM-builders of smartphones and tablets with a production volume of $ 28 billion per year.

This is the ninth agreement in the last four months and the tenth in total. It seems that Microsoft is not going to stop there. Here's what the attack on Android looks like in a schematic view.

The green arrows indicate the already signed agreements, and the red arrows represent the litigation.

After signing Compal, payments to Microsoft will be transferred from more than half of all Android devices sold on the world market. The importance of Compal is indicated by the following diagram, which shows the global market for Android devices among ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers who design and manufacture devices for other companies).

In the US market for Android devices, Microsoft's share rose to 53%, the lion's share is provided by HTC and Samsung.

While Google is looking for ways to stop the expansion of Microsoft and other enemies of Android, almost nothing has been done. The purchase of Motorola and IBM patents has not helped in any way, especially since Motorola patents have not yet been completely transferred to Google.
