The Windows Phone 7 theme has been very popular lately. The new mobile system does not descend from the tops of news publications, Microsoft has officially launched the platform in Russia, and various experts give their forecasts for the near and not very future.
We are doing more banal things - we are blogging on Windows Phone 7 and at the same time looking for other opportunities for collaboration. For example, we are holding a contest of Mango applications for Windows Phone 7 with great prizes.
Also One of our initiatives is to conduct a Windows Phone 7 hackathon in Lviv (western Ukraine) . Here I want to share my thoughts on how we want to conduct it, as well as get feedback from you in terms of thoughts and advice.
Our task: to gather not only enthusiasts of the platform from Microsoft, but also developers for iOS, Android, Symbian, etc., to discuss the mobile trend as a whole, and not to limit your horizons to only one platform. For example, one of the reports on Windows Phone 7 will be read by an Android developer who can compare platforms in practical experience.
The hackathon format is quite simple: 24 hours non-stop programming, after which the best projects (ideas, prototypes) are determined. The development process itself takes place in a free form, there are no strict rules. At the moment, we already have 13 teams, although a month ago we did not expect such an amount.
Hackathon is a good thing, but we decided to conduct a number of other activities as part of the event.
I must say right away that all owners of Windows Phone 7 phones will be able to unlock them for development (developer unlock) for free.

- The representative of Microsoft Ukraine will be present at the hackathon, who will answer all questions related to the development and publication of applications for Ukrainians. In addition, we expect a representative of SofKey - the main publisher of Windows Phone 7 applications for CIS citizens who cannot independently publish applications in the Marketplace due to restrictions;
- for those who are not familiar with the Windows Phone 7 platform, we will offer you to watch a video course from Pluralsight, which covers the main points of application development;
- Several reports are planned, in particular, on Augmented Reality, working with databases, Metro design, as well as a report on typical mistakes during development and publication, due to which applications may not be missed in the Marketplace.
