Admob and porn banners
My “250+ Solitaire Collection” program for Android brings me good advertising revenue. I work with the AdMob service from Google. Until the last week I was quite satisfied with how the service works. But the last few days have reversed my opinion.
It all started last Thursday. I received a letter in which a woman said that she had to remove my program from her Android, since she has children, and porn banners are shown in the program. I immediately got into the settings of AdMob and made sure that adult advertising is prohibited (it is always prohibited by default). I apologized to the user and wrote a letter to AdMob support asking them to sort it out.
On Friday, I have already received two letters stating that porn banners are shown in the program. Since I did not receive a response from AdMob, I sent them another email.
Saturday was calm. But I didn’t get a response from AdMob either.
On Sunday, I received three letters from angry users. Moreover, like the previous three, all were from the United States. In one of the letters it was said that on the banner pictures in the style of BDSM. Of course, I once again wrote in support of AdMob, as I have not yet received a response from them.
Yesterday (Monday), seven letters arrived. From one of the letters I realized that in the USA there is an advertisement for some Flirt service and it is this advertisement that has very frank content. Of course, I once again wrote in support of AdMob.
Today is Tuesday. I never received a single letter from AdMob, but two more letters from angry users. Last night, after I found out the name of the problem (Flirt), I put a ban on the word Flirt in the AdMob text filter, but this, apparently, did not help.
I won’t believe that I’m the only one who tried to write AdMob support about this issue, especially since the problem arose in the US, a key market. But since almost a week now, no one has been responding to this, only one conclusion suggests itself: all letters to AdMob support are immediately sent to the trash.
From this story I made two conclusions:
1) AdMob does not have support services. Trying to get at least a formal reply is an empty undertaking.
2) Through AdMob you can advertise anything. You can easily advertise porn simply by indicating that it is an entertainment site. Advertising doesn’t pass verification before the show, and since they don’t have a support service, the advertisement may sag for a very long time.
It is correctly said that free cheese is only possible in a mousetrap. By paying $ 25 to register as an Android developer, you will receive the absence of any support from Google. Having paid $ 100 a year as an iOS developer, you have a normal Apple support service (verified by your own experience, the answer always came to me within 24 hours). I also have experience communicating with Samsung support, as in Apple you get an answer within 24 hours. There is support in RIM (Blackberry), but it’s terrible, you can wait a few days for an answer, while paying $ 100 for registration.
I am not talking about the quality of support. But everyone but Google has it. If you are writing for Android, then immediately prepare for the fact that you will stop face to face with problems without any support
PS A month passed and finally I received a response from AdMob support. Yes ... Amazing responsiveness.
