Find out who you are in the world of machine learning
And yet today is Friday (though not the end of the working week). In order to brighten up this fact, we suggest you pass a small test on Data Science. Some lovers of tricky math problems have already rated it at Data Fest - the largest national conference for anyone who makes bread and butter (or just enjoys) analyzing and processing data, machine learning and developing on the basis of AI. Under the cut - a small story about our activities at the event and, of course, DeSert himself.

This year we joined the orderly ranks of the conference partners, set up a stand, made several presentations. Like all Data Fest partners, we tried to show ourselves and tolook at people . They told about the company and projects, about our plans in the field of Data Science and machine learning.

We invited not only ready-made specialists, but also students and recent graduates — we offered them to undergo internships in areas of interest.

There were two interactive stands on the stand - on one we checked in guests, talked about the company and generally showed off some of our projects. And on the second - it was possible to pass the same test (be patient;) with several interesting problems and alternative theory of probability :-).

Of course, we handed out souvenirs - for this you had to register at the counter. And soon there were two lines at the stand: one - from the suffering ones, to get free nishtyaks, the second - from those who wanted to solve the tasks of our test for pleasure for the sake of.

And just those who were interested in tasks, and not free cheese , did not lose. We didn’t advertise it in any way, but those who passed the entire test correctly were given more substantial gifts: fitness bracelets and power banks.
We also handed out such cool datascience stickers on laptops. Who in the subject - will understand!

Our contribution to Data Fest was not limited to dough and souvenirs. From our company there were 4 short speeches.
Vladimir Molodykh, head of software development and implementation department, spoke about the company, about why we turned to Data Science.

Alexandra Tsareva and Anna Voevodskaya told about one ML project with our retail client. For technical reasons, the girls did not include a presentation on the big screen, so they had to awaken the sleeping ability and improvise in themselves. And they told about an interesting problem: how to predict which array of heterogeneous data can be made from the array of heterogeneous data, which customers of the retail retailer can come back and make a second, third or tenth purchase.

And finally, Vadim Sedelnikov told about the hackathon AI.Hack, in which we took 1st place in solving the problem posed by Gazprom Neft. If the previous speeches were devoted to stories that are more about business, here is pure science: mathematics, program methods, that’s all. The task was as follows: on the basis of statistical data on purchases of retail customers — gasoline brand, price, region of purchase, and gas station number — it was necessary to predict how much gasoline each retail customer would acquire over the next three months. We will tell about the participation in the hackathon in one of the nearest publications. Do not switch.
Aaaaand now ... who wants to get a little fun from the tasks - welcome!
