Nokia N9 Review
It was great to test the N9 at the same time, and sadly ... Nokia, after several years of torment with a touch of Symbian, finally released a mega cool smartphone based on the MeeGo platform, but it was the first and last - Nokia will never have more devices with this OS. Stephen Elop came to the company and dragged Windows Phone 7. along. It’s also an interesting and promising axis, of course, but you and I are for variety, right?
Sorry for the "microSD slot" in the video. It is not there at all, and, of course, was referring to the micro-USB port.
The N9 case is made of polycarbonate - a material that is very scratch resistant (a few days in your pocket with keys, and everything is clean - look at the pictures, the Patch Tool was used here only to remove specks).
The gadget itself is pleasant to the touch, does not slip in the hand, it is rather weighty, but not too much. In addition to the black model, on October 6, pink and blue versions should also appear on sale.
The front camera is a little strange. It is UNDER the screen, so there is a fear that it will be closed by hand during video calls.
At the bottom of the device is a speaker. Not the loudest. Rather, even too quiet. On the right are three glossy buttons: for switching on and locking, as well as for adjusting the volume. Top - audio jack and micro-USB port under the flap. The stub is unusual. It is not picked up by a finger, but is pressed down.
The slot for micro SIM cards is also cleverly protected. First, the plug must be moved to the side and only then dragged up.
The diagonal of the AMOLED screen at N9 is 3.9 inches, and the resolution is 480x854 pixels. Safety glass protrudes slightly outside the case, so scratches are inevitable. Gorilla Glass in this sense shows worse results than plastic case.
In terms of brightness and color reproduction, the N9 display can be compared with that of the Samsung Galaxy S II: it practically does not fade in the sun, and the viewing angles are maximum.
Eight megapixel camera with dual LED flash, in addition to photos, can shoot video in 720p format at 30 frames per second.

Hardware stuffing is able to keep dozens of programs open at the same time, and the gadget does not hang. A gigabyte of RAM, a Cortex A8 processor and PowerVR SGX530 graphics are not the highest-end, but in combination with MeeGo, the iron gives good results.
The first thing a user sees when they turn on the Nokia N9 is the information screen. “Under it” are three independent screens: application menu, event menu and task manager.
On the application menu screen, phone settings, all standard and installed applications and games are displayed.
In the task manager - all running applications. Moreover, the iron is able to simultaneously hold dozens of open programs and not hang. Here is a gigabyte of RAM, a Cortex A8 processor and PowerVR SGX530 graphics.
I can not agree that much of the MeeGo OS is similar to iOS. Fonts for example. But the control mechanics are completely different, so all the talk about who copied who and what from whom is in the furnace!
You look at the Nokia N9, and a comparison with the Apple iPhone immediately comes to mind. They are about the same size, their interfaces are similar (although the mechanics of control are completely different).
But the iPhone, of course, is gaining an unconditional victory. And not because it is somewhere faster or cooler in something else, but because it has a developed ecosystem - millions of good services and applications.
If Nokia supported this platform further, I would buy the N9 smartphone without hesitation. But the Finns made a bet on Windows Phone, so I would not pay 24 thousand for this device, no matter how interesting it is. Still, I do not want the rather expensive gadget to become outdated even before its hardware filling becomes irrelevant.
