Cut the Rope - first place in the Android Market. How much is earned?

The Russian game Cut the Rope just a week after its release under Android took first place in the list of paid Android Market apps . This is a great success for domestic developers who have made one of the most successful game projects in the global mobile market. In the AppStore, the game is in fifth place among paid applications , and in terms of growth rate, it overtook the Angry Birds chart. The first million downloads took place on the ninth day after the release, which is a record for paid games in the AppStore .

By the way, the publisher of Cut the Rope is the British company Chillingo - the same as that of Angry Birds.

If anyone does not know, then the plot of the game is based on cutting the rope so that the candy gets into the mouth of the hungry monster Om Nom (Om Nom). The rope is simply cut with a finger on the touchscreen. The newspaper Vedomosti is trying to estimate how much money the ZeptoLab studio has already earned. The game appeared on October 4, 2010 in the AppStore, and by July 9, 2011, 45 million downloads were registered, including 9 million of the paid version (the price is $ 0.99 for the iPhone, $ 1.99 in the HD version for the iPad). According to independent estimates, developers receive 21-35% of this money, everything else goes to Apple and the publisher. Specifically, Apple takes 30% of the revenue, and the publisher - another 50-70% of the remaining. Thus, in the AppStore, the company earned approximately $ 1.89 million to $ 3.15 million.

In the Android Market, the studio receives a full 71% of sales, because it works without a publisher. Google does not show the number of downloads, evaluating its current moment in the range of 50,000-100,000 (price $ 0.99). Judging by the results of competitors, by the end of July it is quite possible to reach $ 1 million in revenue, without taking into account the Google commission. At least that's what Paradise Island brought in over a month, according to Alisa Chumachenko, director general of Game Insight.

One can only guess how much Aleksey Pazhitnov would have earned if he had invented Tetris not in 1984, but now.
