Beerconf

    The first mini-conference in beer meetup format took place on April 14 in Chelyabinsk:

    - a beer bar (in our case it was a pizzeria)
    - 10-20 people (gathered 16 developers from 6 companies)
    - technology discussion
    - the first beer (or a teapot of delicious tea) ) free of charge

    At the beginning of the conference, the organizers made a “plenary” report, where we told what we expect from meetings in this format and what our goals are.

    Programmers like for drinking a glass of beer with friends to discuss trends in the profession. We want ... / * it was very important for us to understand what we want:) * / We want to give you-us-still-yourself the opportunity to share experiences, ideas, meet new interesting people.
    Why did we all give up?

    Objectives:

    • To say and be heard;
    • We are interested in new knowledge and experience;
    • We do not pursue the goals of public relations, the promotion of any areas or tools for the development, advertising of alcoholic beverages (we want to - we will pursue;)).

    BeerConf is:

    • Informal friendly atmosphere;
    • The opportunity for new acquaintances and strengthening existing relationships;
    • Communication of developers of various directions and exchange of experience;
    • A place where you can chat with your colleagues from other companies, be heard, get good advice;
    • Free, profile and thematic meetings: web, mobile applications, best practices and so on;
    • Between you and the speaker is only a few meters and a glass of tea;
    • Once a month (or maybe more or less).

    Formats of reports of an informal conference:

    • pecha
    • reports-questions
    • all the rest

    At our first meeting, we discussed:
    • benefits and challenges of the opensource approach;
    • cross-platform development of mobile applications;
    • issues of modern IT education;
    • the problem of juggling in programming;
    • effective organization of the development process.

    The details and results of the discussions remained in the heads of the participants :) Yes, and that covered much more - the conversation went almost without pauses, flowing from the report to the report. What we liked the most was the lack of rules.
    Not the organizers held this meeting - it was made by the participants, with their thoughts and knowledge. Thank you! :)

    Information on the upcoming meetings can be found on Twitter - twitter.com/beerconf
    And on our website - www.beerconf.ru - as you can see, we love the principles of KISS and YAGNI . We think if we want something more from this site - as soon as we decide, we will do it right away.

    If you want to hold a similar meeting in your city and suddenly let us know about it - we will only be happy :) You may not inform us - the main thing is that you like it.

    PS
    Some statistics:
    • 50% of conference organizers do not drink alcohol
    • 60% of conference participants preferred tea to beer
