Galaxy Tab Presentation

Today, a very important event for us was held - the presentation of our first Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computer . We have already talked about it several times (and even showed a 10-minute video of “live” use ) and, perhaps, we won’t bother once again with a listing of technical characteristics. Instead, we have prepared for you a small photo report from the presentation, during which our experts talked about the key features of the Galaxy Tab, and Anatoly Wasserman personally tested it - including its strength.

Ilya Fedotov, marketing manager for the communications equipment department, spoke about the place the tablet computer occupies in the family of mobile devices. We see it as the middle link between compact devices such as communicators and e-books, and less portable, but with much greater capabilities, net- and laptops.
Other important points from his speech:
- Galaxy Tab will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo OS
- supports FullHD video
- there will be two models for sale - 16 and 32 GB, but the memory can be expanded with SD cards with a maximum capacity of up to 32 GB
- on the device the bookstore application familiar to Galaxy S owners will be preinstalledwith thousands of books in Russian. In general, we take Russian-language content very seriously, more on that below.
- Layar augmented reality browser with specially prepared layers for Russia developed by Tele Atlas (one of the world's largest providers of navigation information and maps)
- release date in Russia - October
- cost - in the region of 40,000 rubles

“We didn’t have time to agree with Samsung to make the frame yellow,” jokes Alexander Grek, editor-in-chief of the Russian version of National Geographic. During the presentation, he talked about the electronic version of Nat Geo, optimized for the Galaxy Tab. Video, interactive articles, even 3D (though one cannot do without omnipresent glasses) - in general, everything, as science fiction promised us 15-20 years ago. By the way, we are negotiating with a number of publications about the release of their electronic versions for the Galaxy Tab, but, for obvious reasons, we can’t give specific names now.

The guest whom we had been waiting for a very long time, but did not dock with the schedules, was Anatoly Alexandrovich Wasserman. “He’ll fit in your pocket,” he joked.

“Perhaps the first device with such a serious functional content, which I basically can carry with me,” was Wassermann's verdict.
And finally, an excerpt from an interview with Anatoly Alexandrovich, taken by colleagues from Hi-Tech@Mail.ru (very small, I hope that they will publish the full version - I honestly am ready to listen to it forever).
