
Purgatory for computers
Have you ever wondered where thousands of tons of computer trash go? I think each of us has a small cemetery of computers. Photographer Peter Hugo visited Ghana (a country in West Africa) where his computer geniuses live. A giant dump with nearby slums do not stop smoking, every gram of metal is expensive.
The Russian iron market is much smaller than the world, but I think there are a couple of such landfills in Russia. Moore’s law played a bad joke with us. Each time we update our computer, we don’t think what will happen to the old components. In many regions of our planet, however, recycling is not as progressive as modern technologies.
