Steve Jobs: going to patent pool to run into Theora

imageIt seems that Steve Jobs got a taste of fighting with Adobe Flash and now decided to run into Theora as well. Here is his answer to the remark of a simple German blogger that h.264, which Jobs is promoting, is not an open standard:

“All video codecs are protected by patents. The patent pool is currently being collected to take Theora and other “open source” codecs for one place ( Note the quotation marks ). Unfortunately, if something calls itself open source, this does not mean and does not guarantee that it does not violate other patents. An open standard is something other than royalty free or open source.

What do you think about this,% username%?

By the way, Jobs sometimes responds to emails that can be sent to him at: sjobs@apple.com

Here you can read the original question and answer Jobs.

Update I am not at all against Steve Jobs or Theora, the translation is as close as possible to the original (if you think you can improve, speak out in the comments).

Update 2 I want to transfer Intellectual Property to the blog, but there is not enough karma. Thanks! Moved.
