What is Samsung preparing for us?

Yesterday, SAMSUNG decided to surprise the public - held a rather large-scale event, a forum where it talked about all its new products and plans to conquer the world.
For all the time I managed to attend many events, but the scale of this meeting surprised me. No, this, of course, is not CeBIT or even an expocenter ... but for one single company - more than that. We chose the World Trade Center as the venue - before that I was there only a couple of times - Logitech and Philips representations are located in this building.

On the ground floor, everyone was given a name badge and taken to the second floor, where, in fact, everything happened.

Part of the hall on the second floor was filled with all kinds of equipment - washing machines, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators ... and at first I was even upset - could it really end there) But then a pleasant female voice over the loudspeaker suggested visiting the conference hall.
As a wall decor, Samsung offered their new TVs:

And refrigerators as light and music.

Often you have to go to Gorbushka, go through pavilions with household appliances ... but I have never met such decisions:

Actually, having admired the demos from the robotic vacuum cleaners, everyone went to the conference - it started in a spacious movie-like amphitheater.

A separate point I would like to note the level of the presentation itself - before it began, everyone was offered special electronic translators, despite the fact that the speech of foreign representatives of the company was translated directly on the screen. Beautiful slides (as much as required from the presentation), interactive, sound and light - all at the proper level. Having estimated, I didn’t even remember something like that in my memory.
There were several presenters - from a beautiful girl and company representatives in Russia to the president of the headquarters in the CIS:

Each told something different, which I will briefly give in one big pile of slides :)
So, despite the crisis and just a difficult time, Samsung has found the strength not only to stay afloat, but also to increase all kinds of indicators - growth, sales and production. The times when Samsung was not the best “Chinese” fame, but decades later, the company really gave everyone the heat, have not been forgotten. And, apparently, she’s not going to stop there - at the very beginning of the presentation it was stated with confidence in her voice that by 2012 the company had set itself two big goals - to become a world leader and become a favorite brand of consumers. Well, we will watch with interest!

The conquest of the world began with a story about developments in the field of household appliances. Vacuum cleaners, air ionizers and air conditioners, refrigerators and electric stoves, microwaves and washing machines fell into this category - almost everywhere the company offered something new.
Here, for example, a robotic vacuum cleaner, whose work could be seen in the lobby. The idea is far from new (such devices have been on sale for several years already), but it’s cool enough - a small smart cake travels on the floor and, if it detects dirt, eats it with its rotating brushes. Someone will say that it’s all for lazy people, someone will say that IT will not replace manual cleaning ... I’ll say that it just won’t go through my house) The partitions between the rooms, slippers, children's toys - it’ll definitely shake somewhere . But overall, the idea is interesting.

There were no revolutions in refrigerators either, but there is progress. So, for example, with the previous dimensions, thanks to the new insulation method, the company managed to increase the useful volume of some models by as much as 100 liters! Doors continue to increase their functionality - starting from touch displays (photos, recording cases, calendars, something else), ending with a continuous interactive LED backlight - it looks very cool, but obviously not for communal apartments and Khrushchev)

New forms of drums have been developed for washing machines eliminating the possibility of tissue damage; as well as a new anti-vibration mechanism and a pre-foaming system - so that it can be washed effectively at a lower temperature and in a shorter time.

Air conditioners did not become somehow unbelievable - all the same units, but more efficient - both in terms of basic functionality and in terms of energy consumption.

In general, after a brief run over new domestic developments, we slowly approached the most important and interesting thing.
It’s not a secret for anyone that so many companies have put a great emphasis on the three-dimensional image - I think that the avalanche-like sales of such devices began after the iconic Avatar. And while the people were still impressed, everyone considered it their duty to do something so three-dimensional - many analysts have been predicting such a scenario for several years.

Actually, the Samsung decided to head this direction and released a huge number of various solutions - from wireless glasses, ending with players and, in fact, the TVs themselves.

A lot of TVs were presented - several series, each of which has several models. LCD, LCD, plasma, 3D HDTV - I think, after five minutes, everyone was already confused in the classifications and just watched beautiful pictures.

Briefly - new technologies for color rendering (such as "smart" backlighting of certain parts of the screen), reducing energy consumption with the continued growth of the diagonal and simply reducing the size (mainly thickness).

And here, by the way. It seemed to me, or is the company really paying too much attention to all kinds of improvers? Perhaps some of them are really good + innovative. But there are those that cause a lot of internal dialogues with oneself. For example, the Clear Motion Rate technology, which supposedly improves image quality by 16 times, and in real time, during a presentation, such things are usually backed up by beautiful pictures.

But, think for yourself ... where to get additional detail in this size? Photoshop and the most powerful graphic solutions sometimes allow you to achieve results that differ markedly from the original (in color, clarity, etc.), but I don’t believe that TV does it (even three times expensive and three times smart). Moreover, the question of the content itself is still standing on the edge - if you can still argue over HD video, then there is definitely no television. So, will someone convince me or is it the same marketing? )
Well, and perhaps the most offensive - at such events there is practically no time for a detailed study of a particular product - you will not climb hundreds of TV sets on the menu, compare pictures, characteristics, etc. But in any case, the work does not stand still and it is very nice.
Speaking of 3D-image, absolutely all manufacturers draw a screen image in the projection from which a moving object flies (the top is headed by a dolphin or killer whale, followed by a football player, a car and all kinds of butterflies and birds there). Actually, Samsung was no exception ... although, how many three-dimensional screens I have not seen, nothing has ever come out of the screen. Although, a pleasant exception can be considered these girls in a small commercial break. Fap-fap)

After the girls began to talk about mobile devices - telephones and communicators, cameras, netbooks, laptops and all kinds of e-books.
The most interesting for many was the new Samsung Wave communicator on its own platform - Samsung Bada. The most obvious plus is the large Super-AMOLED screen, behind which the serious hardware is hidden - all the same gigahertz (as on my HTC HD2, which has been almost six months already). How successful the sales of the new device will go is time will tell, but for now it can be said for sure that the new operating system will have to be ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy.

In the photo niche, it was also decided to succeed - looking at the general fashion at “mirrorless mirrors”, several devices were released, one of which is the Samsung NX10 .

The second novelty was Samsung EX1 - a more compact version, but with an even more expressive “watering can” taste) The camera is very similar to my Lumix GF1 , a review of which I will try to finish soon.

Well, in other areas of the periphery, it was decided to succeed - printers, e-books and many, many laptops.

On this solemn note, the presentation ended and everyone was invited to go to a large demo room, where you could get to know all of the above live!
At the very entrance there was a large rectangular column of three-dimensional panels - three-dimensional glasses were handed out to all visitors and you could see what kind of 3D it was.

Wireless glasses - very similar to those offered by NVidia (I'm talking about 3D Vision). They sit comfortably, but ... from the image of 9 screens from a distance of a couple of meters it was somehow uncomfortable ... but from afar, yes, everything is fine.

To the left of the entrance was the whole "everyday life."

Refrigerators pleasantly surprised that there were real products inside, and not soulless plastic models) Juices, beer, fish - mmm.

On the right is a whole wall of TVs (there were SO MUCH that at one moment it seemed to me that for the sake of completeness the picture was taken by several TV sets from other manufacturers))).

Most of all I was surprised by the TV, which in the presentation was compared with a pencil (there is no real photo). It’s clear that this is a piece of marketing, that the thickness is only in the thinnest place ... but in general, the TV is unrealistically cool !!! Something about 55 inches of a stunning screen, chained in a stylish metal frame - a sort of baking sheet. Extremely stylish, but I don’t even want to think about the price)

Already wrote that some companies offered to use Skype via the TV - on a habr about it more than once wrote . Then I did not deny myself the pleasure of hurting myself over webcam realities ... but if everything is as in the photo below, then I am calm.

Several monitors were presented, with supposedly 100% sRGB coverage. The 6-monitor screen also met - at last I personally managed to see what it is. Absolutely not for home, but you can find a useful application almost everywhere. About a cruel joke with this screen :)

Habr still to impose and impose) But there are rumors that on the five-monitor system in the lower right corner of the screen on Habr exactly at midnight the image of Lenin appears.

On the interactive whiteboard, everyone considered it necessary to take a picture with the name of his publication.

Several models of e-books have been shown, including sensory ones. It is very interesting, but as elsewhere, you can say something specific only after a closer acquaintance.

Well, actually, the cell phones - the same Wave, the same Monte, the same Spica) The SuperAMOLED screen in reality looks really very cool! Unfortunately, in the photo, as always, this was not transmitted.

Pay attention to the cool shadow under the phone.

The platform, by the way - android :)

In general, so much was presented that for technology lovers it was just a balm for the soul) But, again, it is very unfortunate that everything had to be seen only very superficially. After that, there were two round tables in parallel - about 3DTV and about mobile devices, which I, unfortunately, didn’t get to because of the pleasant company :) And the camera sat treacherously by then. But maybe this is for the best - there are already 75 photos in the post. Hope to read about missed on other sites.
As I said, by 2012 the company set a goal to become a favorite company among millions of people. Apparently, they decided to start small and directly at the conference - at the exit, you could change your badge to an 8-inch digital photo frame, which can be used as a second monitor. Thank you, I was filled :)
I saw a lot of acquaintances - I counted people only from Habr 5) It was really very interesting - such events are held not every day and by no means even by every large company. By the way, not so long ago I did a similar post - " What ASUS is preparing for us ."
Once again I am convinced - we live in an interesting time!
Good luck!
