Dedicated to Athletes: Nokia Sports Tracker Beta

Recently I came across an entertaining program for Nokia phones with Symbian S60 OS - the electronic sports training diary of Nokia Sports Tracker. Ahead of a long weekend, sunny weather, and I decided to try it out.

The idea of the program, of course, is not new - using the built-in or external GPS-receiver to track the movement of the phone in space, record the speed, travel time and track, and based on these data to build various kinds of statistics. But I have not heard about its implementations for Symbian S60 (by the way, if there are any, give links in the comments, please).

You can get SportsTracker at the office. site . Choose a phone model, agree with EUSA and download sisx (you do not need to register on the site).

After installation, the first thing to do is configure the user settings for yourself. To do this, I went to the Settings -> Users menu, renamed my existing account and entered my anthropometric data (age, body weight, height). Is it possible to add another user there, for me it remains a mystery - it seems that no, at least I did not understand how to do this.

That's all, you can start training! I arrive at the place, run the program and press New Workout, i.e. start recording a track. Immediately invited to choose the type of training. The program has several types of classes:
    • Walking
    • Run
    • A ride on the bicycle
    • Skiing
    • and 2 add. type of activities for self-tuning

They all differ in parameters - in what form the speed is displayed, whether auto-pause is active (i.e., temporarily disabling the recording of information at a speed of, say, less than 1 km / h), etc. Yes, it’s just convenient to separate by type what activity is now in progress.

After the workout is finished, a record of new activity appears on the calendar, and it is possible to upload data about it to the special. service hosted at. site. To do this, you need to register an account (or use an existing Nokia Ovi-account), specify the username, password and Internet access point on the phone. In this case, you can set the scope of the track - “to anyone”, “friends” or “everyone”. Who cares - here are links to my 2 workouts: here and here. You can view the timeline superimposed on Google Maps track, time, etc.

In addition, you can associate media resources with any record. For example, photographed something interesting, or filmed on a video - upload to the service. If the metadata contains the coordinates of the location, the service will automatically place a mark on the map. If not, you can always do it manually.

At the office. the site is built a whole social. SportsTracker user network. True, while the site and the client do not have Russian localization. However, the official status of the product is Beta, and in the future the functionality will certainly be expanded and localized more deeply.

You can safely recommend software to all amateur athletes - for example, I finally finally found out relatively accurately how long my favorite routes are in the local “green zone”. Pressing a couple of buttons at the start and finish will not be difficult, but then you can watch the statistics with interest. And share your results through the online part. In general, the implementation of the service turned out to be very worthy!

PS I deliberately did not give a bunch of screenshots and descriptions here - for all those interested, I can recommend the FAQ and user guide . They contain a comprehensive description, however, in English.
