The qualities of an ideal teacher
Hello.
Recently, articles on the topic of which teachers are unjust, stupid and wrong have begun to appear on the hub I want to talk a little bit on this topic and try to bring out the image of an ideal teacher.
Go.
First, let's remove the stereotypes. Recently, everyone thinks that they are becoming a teacher to take on the paw from students. But this is nonsense. Why? And here is why.
How to become a teacher? They enter graduate school, do something there and try themselves in the role of a teacher. Yes, many go to graduate school because of the army, and these people are forced to teach. BUT! According to the federal component, the graduate student must devote 100 hours in three years (!). This is basically one to two courses per semester. If a person does not want to, he will not be forced to work beyond the norm. And in one or two semesters, all points will be placed on i. Further, a person teaches only on his own initiative. And his goal is not money from students. Because while he is a graduate student, he certainly will not take money.
Yes, of course there are people who teach out of selfish motives, but this is more the exception than the rule.
Further it turns out that the teacher teaches and looks at the students. He begins to understand a lot. He understands that most students are not adapted to anything, but you don’t want to train them, because all work will sink into oblivion. And do not forget that all the same, the teacher’s salary is not large, more enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is based on the fact that you can give something. It is to that smart guy or girl, in general, a student who will say thanks for what you are doing.
But no. For a long time already students see in everything only the incompetence of the teacher or his stupidity. Students believe that they are right on any issue. That teacher is finding fault, then something else is wrong. Now let's face it, if you know and understand the subject, then there will be no problems.
The same post about a girl who came to take her lab, but the teacher sent her something else to do. The essence of that post is that the girl does not understand, cannot understand, because firstly she will not work in her specialty, and secondly she cannot do something herself. So it turns out that the teacher does not want to rate the student, he did not deserve it. And on the other hand, I don’t want to deduct, because it can ruin the life of a child. Feel what a problem?
So it turns out that the teacher must be a humane person, but demanding, even a little bit tough (not cruel :-)) and fair. If a person is trying, then it may be worth pushing him still, to give more tasks. If a person really tries, he will accept these tasks with joy, whoever is not will stand up with hostility, and write about which teachers are unjust.
What should a teacher teach? To learn to work first. Do not be lazy and work. And it’s worth remembering the ancient teachers. Which were very wise. They wanted to show students different situations and teach them how to get out. For example, to show what is injustice, what is a lie. But this is, note, we are not talking about that.
The teacher must be competent, but there are teachers who do not understand anything. But this is not often and most often it is only some graduate students. Because the defense of the candidate already implies not a small immersion in the subject area. Nothing to talk about doctors at all.
But very often I hear that, they say, yes, he’s smart man, but he can’t explain. Let’s think, should a doctor of some sciences be a good speaker? Absolutely yes. And moreover, in my memory there is not a single candidate or doctor who could not speak well. Yes, of course, in order to understand it, one must possess knowledge, and sometimes considerable, but these people know a lot about their field and it is important for us to absorb these words like a sponge, because we share really smart things with us. Yes, maybe he does not know how to explain what he does without obscure terms and words. It’s just that he won’t be able to do it differently. And while listening to lectures, we must understand the teacher, and for this it is worth sitting at home, looking at some terms, reading books, developing in the required direction.
Yes, I am for teachers to get training in the direction of pedagogy, all the same it is a science and there are a lot of interesting things there. But in our universities this is often not the case. This is a minus. But this is one small plus, teachers do not try to adapt to the student, the student must adapt to the teacher, and rightly so, this is part of life. And a university must, in addition to studying, make an adult out of a schoolboy capable of living in our world.
So that’s what turns out, the teacher must be humane, demanding, competent and should be a good speaker. The worst thing is that some things are very difficult to fit into one person.
But no one understands how difficult and responsible this is, everyone only talks about what a bastard you are, you want to expel me and fill me up. Everyone complains behind and grins. But it is precisely this person, your teacher, who is much higher than you spiritually and intellectually. Humanly, nobody wants evil for you.
So the ideal teacher is a humane, demanding, tough, fair, competent, oratorical person who is respected, he expects it and he deserves it.
Probably all. In general, this is more likely a post from the category to boil. But maybe some student will read and understand the purpose of the training. I hope this will be my student. :-)
Here is my personal opinion.
Thanks to all. Ready to argue.
PS: I often used the word "teacher", this is not neglect on my part, just writing the word teacher for a long time.
