google life search

    Google announced Live Search yesterday.

So what is it and how to use it? Has the search become more relevant and user-friendly? How to get on it, where to enter a query to see live results?

The algorithm is still running in and so far fully works only for English-language queries. You enter the query of interest and see in the search results in the middle of the page the section Latest result for “your query”. You can try to enter your request here .

For example, an Obama query. Around the middle of the page is a block of Recent Results, which are updated in real time.

New Obama results are constantly updated and added to the search results. If this “running line” is annoying, you can pause it by clicking on “Pause”, but you cannot completely remove the “live search” from the results.

Adam Smith, a Google employee who manages the development of the new real-time search system, says that not all requests will be able to see constantly updated information: “if we receive quality information on this request, we will show it, no - no”

Thus, if Google believes that it has quality information in real time, then it will display it in a block. In particular, if Google sees a surge in information on a certain topic, as well as an increase in requests on this topic, google believes that the requested event is just happening at the moment and it makes sense to display information on this event at the moment.

If you click on the link the latest results, you will be redirected to the page with the search list in real time.

Where do the results come from?

    - Tweets from Twitter
    - Google News
    - Google Blog Search
    - Just Created Web Pages
    - Just Updated Web Pages
    - FriendFeed Updates
    - Jaiku Updates
    - Updates Identi.ca
    - Updates TwitArmy

Soon they promise to include updates with FaceBook and MySpace, but only updates for those users who are allowed to publish their updates in the public domain. At the moment, there is an agreement with the services, but the results do not appear in the capture.

By the way, Bing already has an agreement with FaceBook on data transfer, but does not use search results so far. But Bing has no agreement with MySpace.
How is information ranked? Google says that only highly relevant information can get into a special block of live search. Thus, spammer tweets, pages with low quality content and govnosites will not fall into the block of live search. (Google knows how to weed them out) After filtering "bad" pages, the ordering takes place by time.
You can switch from viewing all results (All results) to viewing only news, topics from blogs or updates (twitter?), Filtering out unnecessary information.

Of course, there are already live search interfaces for Android and iPhone

Google says that so far it has no intentions to create a separate page for real-time search (as there is a search on blogs, pictures or news),but now there is a page configured to search for information in real time.

Hot topics that currently excite the English-speaking world can be found here.

And lastly, a kintz from Google:

Google could exist without real-time search, but with it the information is more complete and faster. People falling into various troubles will write about it to their blog / microblog faster than professional media will report about it. Tsunamis, fires, the state of ski slopes, user reviews of new films - all this information appears on blogs faster than in the news.
