How did I go to Ubuntu

After reading the adventures of reinvigorate , I decided to share my story, if not a transition, then meeting Ubuntu.

I tried a little on the virtual machine and live CD, nothing is clear, it seems the same thing, only a little differently. And then I got an old Fujitsu Siemens 128Mb 700MHz laptop. It did not have WiFi, so I installed a USB D-link keychain. Everything would be fine, but the connection appeared 2 times a day for 15 minutes and it was 3 meters from the modem. Fussing with the drivers did not help, and the idea came to try Ubuntu on this laptop, especially since Windows barely tossed and turned there.

I tried to start 8.10, then 9 has not yet come out. Because of the old CD, the installation took about 3 hours, it’s good that she didn’t require my participation. The only thing is that I broke my head over the sections.

And then everything was established! After the first boot, I plugged in that USB WiFi, scored the iP and ... lo and behold! The Internet has earned! I digged a couple of days and came out 9.4. I decided to install Xubuntu. The whole process was completely repeated, except for the sound. But probably all the same, I will have to find and install one driver. I did not find it at the office.

I can’t find more manuals in Russian to chew thoroughly. Only a week later I realized that the console is called a “terminal”.

It’s still very hot to collect my beloved OpenTTD near Xubuntu, but again there are no instructions that are understandable to an absolute teapot grown on Wend.

In general, I am very pleased with the system, now I’m thinking how to replace Wendu on the main computer.
