.RU on the passport

Amazing news was reported today by the newspaper Vedomosti. It turns out that the RU domain coordination center is about to introduce domain registration in the RU national zone upon presentation of a passport. The registrar needs to send a notarized copy of the passport or personally come to the office with a document. Each domain registrar will be required to verify documents.

It would seem that this is some kind of duck or an unreliable rumor. But no, personally the Director of the Coordination Center Andrei Kolesnikov at the CIB + RIF conference said that the new / old registration rules could be introduced as early as May of this year.

To reassure the audience, Kolesnikov explained that it would be possible to register a domain without a passport, but in this case, "the site can be suspended by any user complaint." What this means is not yet entirely clear.

And that's not all. Although the issue has already been resolved with passports, the Coordination Center wants more. They also suggest that registrars fix the IP address from which the application for registering a domain will come, check the applicant’s phone number and record data on bank cards.
