Fresh pictures of Mars
As you can see on the page with the explicit name http://www.google.com/mars/ , Google Mars began to receive fresh photographs of the surface of the red planet - the Google office commented on it with the words: “Today we are entering the unexplored territory for the first time.”
The images (available for viewing in the landscape / visible spectrum / IR spectrum mode) were obtained by Themis camera mounted on the Mars Odyssey spacecraft. From them and already available photographs from around the world, a map of the surface of Mars will be formed - now you can see the real location of some Soviet and American rovers, dunes, canyons, rivers and craters of the planet. The detail and number of photos, of course, will only increase over time.
