Logout link - is it needed in the base template?

I want to ask your advice. I am currently working on improving the design of my project and try to achieve minimalism. I look at each link and decide: is it needed in the basic template or can it be pushed somewhere deeper?

The question arose about the logout link , did it exit . In the vast majority of sites with registration, it is included in the template. As a rule - in the upper right corner and / or next to the username. The only exception that I found is Livejournal, where the exit button is not included in either the friendly or in viewing my blog.

In your opinion, maybe all the same it is worth lowering the priority of this link? Say, place it only in the user profile? Or replace with a small icon? Or put it down in the footer? And then, it turns out that we are expelling the user. And after all, a large percentage probably does not use this link. I would like to leave only search and help in the upper right corner.

What do the logs of your sites say? Often users log out? Under what circumstances?

And in pursuit, the second question: did you come across a beautiful free icon for logout? Need a door with an arrow, not a white circle with a dash on a red background. I searched for two hours, found only in the famfamfam collection, but it’s very small there and this one from openclipart.org:
