In memory of Geir Ivarsoy.

Yesterday I accidentally drew attention to the Opera browser About . There, at the very bottom of the page, there is an inscription that interested me.
    In memory of Geir Ivarsøy.

Who is this Ivarsoy, Geir ? Turning for help first to Wikipedia, and then to Google, I realized that I was not the first questioner. But let me quote what is written on the wiki - believe me, this person deserves mention on Habr (I did not find his mention here).

Geir Ivarsøy (Norwegian Geir Ivarsøy; June 27, 1957 - March 9, 2006)- Norwegian programmer, was a leading developer at Opera Software ASA, known for its Opera browser. He and Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner worked together at the research division of the telephone company Telenor, where they developed software called MultiTorg Opera. Telenor closed the project, but in 1995 Geir and Jon bought the rights to their offspring, formed a company and continued to work on the browser.

Now this project is known as Opera, this browser has become very popular, despite the competition. Opera Software ASA staff has been replenished with more than 400 employees since moving to Oslo.

At a meeting of board members in January 2004, Geir Ivarsøy announced his resignation from the board members of Opera Software ASA, although after that he actively participated in the development of the company. In July 2005, he was elected to the company’s nomination committee.

Geir died on March 9, 2006 after a long battle with cancer.
