MLO: Weekly Planning

    I’ll start graphing on the topic of task planning techniques with my approach to planning for the coming week.

    Toolkit: GTD (Getting Things Done) , MLO (MyLifeOrganized) .

    “Infrastructure”
    The “GTDZoom4FocusedAction” was used as a template in MLO (despite the persistent recommendations of old-timers and gurus of GTD communities to create the structure of their system from scratch).

    Delayed projects vs Weekly plans
    For short-term planning (for example, for the coming week) within the framework of the GTD system, it is important to configure a filtering system for the ToDo list.

    It should not include cases that do not need to be performed at the moment (the moment of viewing the sheet or the time of the activity of the context).

    The second important aspect is the distribution of tasks and projects into groups:
    - current tasks (scheduled for the coming week) - are divided into sections (SingleStep, QuickList ...) (with the appropriate contexts) ;
    - “I want to do” (what I WANT to do) - the section is hidden from ToDo
    - “must do” (obligations to someone to do something) - get into ToDo by filtering by date (DueDate or StartDate);
    - “someday” (“it would be good if it would be done”) - the section is hiding from ToDo ;
    - “incubator” (here the projects are “ripening” and are preparing for the transition to the “for execution” sections.

    Weekly review
    Planning involves deciding which projects and tasks will come to the forefront and will be completed within the next period (in my case, a week).

    I do this:
    - I focus on home (or work) affairs
    - expand all the branches
    - move the necessary affairs from the "archive" branches to "active"
    - open ToDo
    - set the date to "in a week"
    - correct the dates on which you need to resolve one or another task.

    Then, within a week, I simply open ToDo and see the entire list of plans for a specific day.

    If necessary (I did not have time or circumstances changed) I transfer the tasks to other days.

    Hint:
    If the tasks of the projects clog the list with a large number of items, you need to check the "Complete subtasks in order" checkbox.
    Then the tasks of the project fall into ToDo in turn.
