How to check a freelancer for “lice”?

When communicating with my friends, I recently come across the fact that very often when they act as customers and look for artists among freelancers, they stumble upon a problem:

How to pay a prepayment to a freelancer (almost all freelancers work on a prepaid basis) and not get into a scammer ?

Since, as a share of fate, I often also have to face the choice of an artist, I offer my 10 points for checking a freelancer for “lice”.

So, it is worth doing the following:

    1. Check the WM-wallet if a person asks for an advance payment on it. If the wallet is anonymous or formal and God forbid it is registered until 2-3 days ago - a good cause for concern. A freelancer who has nothing to hide from the customer will make a personal certificate for himself - it doesn’t work out for a long time - within 1 day and costs if he doesn’t change my memory at $ 30. - at least it cost when I received it. To do this, you will need a passport and a photocopy of significant pages, a photocopy of the identification code, etc.

    2. A person talks a lot about how professional he is, how skillfully he makes projects and everything in a similar style.

    3. Refuses to work through a “safe transaction” or “risk-free transaction” of freelance exchanges.

    4. Has an email on public free mail servers of the type vasya@mail.ru, sergey@list.ru, biznes2002@yahoo.com. A self-respecting freelancer (and successful) can very well afford to buy a domain and create personal mail on it.

    5. Does not have a personal website with a portfolio.

    6. Checks on Google or Yandex by his nickname, icq number, first name, last name give information about problems with this person at work.

    7. A person has negative reviews on his WMID (if one exists).

    8. Refuses to show his portfolio or explain what and in what project he personally did.

    9. In communication, causes negativity, is not literate, uses too much slang, Padon style of communication.

    10. If a freelancer is found on a labor exchange like free-lance.ru or weblancer.net and does not have a rating.

The list goes on, but if at least a couple of points out of the 10 above are justified - this is an excuse not to pay an advance payment.

In general, a good style of working with freelancers is to use the “safe transaction service” or “risk-free transaction” from weblancer.net and free-lance.ru, respectively. Even if the freelancer fails the project, then the maximum that you can lose is your time, and the money will be saved and returned.

    Add-ons from DL1t :

Do not give an advance payment if the freelancer:

    - Insists on e-mail as the only form of contact, refuses to give a phone number or at least skype.
    - being in the same city as the customer refuses to meet in person, with excuses like “everything is clear to me”, “I am very busy, sorry”
    - having only a brief description of the work, the freelancer immediately names the total amount and terms, doesn’t requesting the full TK
