OpenID and hCard: an interesting symbiosis

Ivan Sagalaev realized an interesting thing . I can not help but talk about her at least briefly. So, what’s the matter:

Usually, OpenID owners have the following conditions:

    1. They have their own OpenID — this is essentially a personal URL (for example, http: // username .livejournal.com or http: // username .moikrug.ru , or some other page).
    2. They log in to sites that support OpenID, indicating the coveted URL (see above)
    3. Logged in, people can perform certain actions on the site (most often leave comments, etc.), and the system, without knowing their name, will name them according to OpenID.

Sagalaev proposed introducing the hCard microformat into the page with OpenID so that when logging in, in addition to the OpenID itself, the system could also receive a name with a surname by simply analyzing the page and pulling out the necessary information from it (the corresponding hCard microformat classes are just “hooks”) .

Already now you can try everything by specifying your profile page in "My Circle" as the OpenID - it contains hCard.

I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the full author's description of all of the above .
