Blogs Mail.Ru again overtook LJ

The company Mail.ru reported that the project Блоги@Mail.Ru million online diary was established. According to developers, the number of users of Blog.Mail.Ru exceeds the number of registered Russian users of the popular blog hosting LiveJournal.com twice.
The blog service from Mail.ru already noted the records in its work: in May 2006, a jubilee millionth record was recorded, and in February 2007 - a five millionth one. Recall also that last year the company reported higher rates than LJ .

During a telephone interview, Anna Artamonova, vice president and director of marketing and PR at Mail.Ru ( antigona) noted that at the moment, according to the company's official statistics, about 20,000 entries are published daily in Blogs@Mail.ru, of which 17,000 are in the public domain and 3,000 are hidden (“locked up”). Thus, the statistics published on blogs.yandex.ru , which, apparently, does not take into account all the entries , are somewhat surprising .

The main task of the Mail.ru blog hosting Anna Artamonova first of all marked the acquaintance of a huge audience with such an unusual concept for many as blogs. That is why, for example, the main emphasis in blogs.mail.ru is on communication: on the main page of the service, a directory of communities and the latest blog entries (the so-called "live broadcast") are available. The users of the service are so sociable that if, for example, you create a new blog and write one post there, he will immediately receive a few comments.

When calculating statistics, Bloggers@Mail.ru developers do not focus on the number of entries. An important indicator, according to Mrs. Artamonova, is the large number of comments that users leave. In addition, traffic should be considered an important parameter: blogs.mail.ru has about 150,000 unique visitors per day. Such statistics are especially noteworthy also because competing services most often do not publish these parameters.

The main competitor in the company is still considered the Diary.ru service, the activity and attendance indicators of which are quite close to the service from Mail.ru. However, Ms. Artamonova says that the company is not going to hide its ambitions and is ready to compete with all the leading blog hosting companies in the near future.

One of the leaders of the company Sup, Anton Nosik ( dolboeb ) congratulates Mail.ru on such indicators: he says that he is sincerely happy for the company and its service. At the same time, Anton Borisovich was amazed that Mail.ru could count Russian LJ users at Mail.ru. According to official statistics, which is being prepared by Six Apart and is currently available only to the Sup company, there are 890,000 Cyrillic users registered in LiveJournal, which is clearly not half the number of users of Blogs@Mail.ru. In April 2007, according to Mr. Nosik, “Soup” plans to open up general access to these statistics: while the company is engaged in bringing it into a “readable form”.

According to Anton Nosik, the Mail.ru blog service is not a competitor of LJ: “Livejournal is a unique collection of interesting media profile resources of great social significance and dynamic communities. Mail.ru doesn't have that. ” Thus, competitors of blogs.mail.ru are more likely services such as Liveinternet, Diary.ru and "Lady".
