Baidu Opens Blogging Platform

China's largest search site Baidu.com plans to open a blogging platform, Chinese media reported . The service should become an analogue of popular Western services, such as MySpace , and even get a similar name: Baidu Space. Representatives of Baidu refused to disclose the exact launch date for Baidu Space, but said it would happen "very soon."

The leading Western Internet companies that are represented in the Chinese market -  Microsoft , Google and Yahoo - have already opened blogging services in China. In a country that will soon come to first place in the world in the number of Internet users, this niche is considered very promising. There are not only Western, but also dozens of local companies, including Bokee.com , Blogbus.com and BlogCN.com. The number of bloggers in China will exceed 60 million by the end of this year and 100 million in 2007.
