PINE A64: universal 64-bit mini-PC with Kickstarter

An interesting project appeared on Kickstarter a few weeks ago - a single-board mini-PC PINE A64. Its developers believe that this single-board computer can be used in a variety of fields, including telecommunications, electronics, educational projects, and entertainment.

Despite its small size, this is a fairly powerful device for its class, of course. The basis is a quad-core 64-bit ARM A53 processor with a core frequency of 1.2 GHz. GPU - MALI-400 MP2 (2 cores, 500 MHz). The graphics performance is slightly higher than the original X-Box.

PINE64 - expandable PC

Various hardware can be added to this mini PC. So, the board has 2 USB ports, an HDMI output, a 3.5 mm audio output, Ethernet, and two expansion buses. The more advanced PINE A64 + model has three additional ports that allow you to add peripherals such as a camera module, touchscreen, LCD.

Versatility

If you add a keyboard and mouse, PINE A64 can be turned into a full-fledged computer with Android 5.1 on board or another compatible operating system.

The same single-board PC can also be used as a media station.

And if you add a touchscreen, then you can turn the device into a game station with Android games.

The system also pulls 4K video.

operating system

Since PINE A64 is an open source platform, you can use both Android, Ubuntu or even openHAB IoT.

Supported OS

The system is based on a microSD card inserted in the slot (up to 256 GB supported). In addition, an additional drive can be connected to USB, if desired.

And here is the compatible peripherals:

How much can it cost?

Just a little, as you see. The project page on Kickstarter is located here. Now the project has already collected more than 800 thousand US dollars instead of 31 requested thousands. So the campaign is more than successful, it remains to wait for the single-board “pine” to go out.

Note: PINE A64 is a device that is not yet on sale. In the range of the company "Dadget" PINE A64 is also not.
