DEXP Ursus NS210 review - an inexpensive tablet with a 10.1-inch screen and 3G support
New tablets with a screen diagonal of 10.1 inches appear much less often than, say, 7-inch models. Large "pills" are not so convenient to carry: they take up a lot of space, and simply heavy. However, for a number of tasks - watching videos, working in office applications, drawing sketches - it is large-format tablets that are best suited. One of these devices will be discussed in today's review. This is a tablet from the Vladivostok brand DEXP - an inexpensive model (6,990 rubles) with a 10.1-inch screen DEXP Ursus NS210.
The tablet has a dark gray plastic case. The surface of the case is slightly rough to the touch. It is believed that this texture is more resistant to pollution than gloss. The case of the device is framed by a golden frame, at first glance similar to a metal one. But this is also plastic. Despite the simplicity of the materials, the assembly on the tablet is neat, there are no gaps and creaks. The cover on the rear panel, which covers the SIM card slot and the memory card, does not bend when pressed.
Above the DEXP Ursus NS210 screen, almost in the middle is the front camera with a resolution of 0.3 megapixels. The main camera, located on the back of the case, has a resolution of 2 megapixels and is complemented by an LED flash. Also at the rear is a multimedia speaker with an average degree of volume.
The power button and volume keys are located on the right side and protrude slightly above the surface of the case, they are easy to press by touch. There are no controls on the left side.
MicroUSB port, microphone and 3.5 mm audio output are located on the top of the tablet.
The slot for SIM-card and MicroSD - under the plastic plug.
The tablet belongs to the price category of inexpensive devices, and yet the DEXP Ursus NS210 screen cannot be called typically budget. The display on the IPS-matrix with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels provides a bright and contrast picture, wide viewing angles and adequate color reproduction. What can not be said about the screens on TFT-TN-matrices, which are still used in many budget tablets with a 10.1-inch screen.
The DEXP Ursus NS210 display recognizes up to five simultaneous touches. This is absolutely enough for standard tablet use.
The tablet has a 4-core Spreadtrum SC7731 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. This, as you can see for yourself, is not the most relevant solution. For example, the graphics accelerator Mali-400MP2 is already somewhat outdated. However, if you look at the situation as a whole and remember the price of the device, this combination seems like a logical decision. The tablet performed well in multitasking mode. There is enough hardware capacity to run most of the applications on their Google Play. In performance tests, DEXP Ursus NS210 showed the following results:
Moreover, in practice, DEXP Ursus NS210 easily copes with playing HD-video and quietly runs 3D games like Asphalt 8 (although it’s better to set the average graphics settings). The game WoT Blitz also "goes" without serious slowdowns and sagging FPS. Everything is working fine.
The microSD card slot (up to 32 GB) is sure to come in handy. Because the built-in memory with a capacity of 8 GB will obviously be small - because almost half of the program files occupy.
All standard wireless modules are installed in the tablet - Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS. During testing, they all showed stable performance. By the way, the 3G module also supports voice calls, so the tablet can be used as a smartphone. Only for these purposes you will need a headset, since there is no built-in speaker in the DEXP Ursus NS210.
DEXP Ursus NS210 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Not the latest release, but the manufacturer promises an early update to Android 5.1 Lollipop. You can download it by air (via OTA). The system interface looks absolutely standard, since DEXP did not make any proprietary changes. There are several familiar pre-installed applications that you can easily get rid of at any time.
A good camera on a tablet is a rare occurrence. A good camera in a budget tablet is a non-existent phenomenon. That's why there is absolutely no reason to hope for decent pictures taken with a 2-megapixel DEXP Ursus NS210 camera. And the built-in flash does not save either. It’s only wise to use this camera when nothing else is at hand. Here are examples of photos on the main camera: The
front camera is also not far away. You will not make any fashionable selfies, and even more so general photos with friends. The maximum that a 0.3 megapixel camera can provide is Skype communication.
The battery capacity of the DEXP Ursus NS210 is 5,500 mAh. In the mixed operation mode (access to the Internet, watching videos, games - a bit of everything), the tablet manages without recharging an average of 1.5 days. In the continuous playback mode of HD-video, the device "sits down" in about 7 hours. The battery runs out a little faster in gaming mode. You will have to search for an outlet after 5 hours of a 3D games session.

DEXP Ursus NS210 - a tablet with a large high-quality HD-screen and an affordable price (6 990 rubles). Standard applications and popular games run quickly and easily. The model is still running on Android 4.4.2, but the promised upgrade to a more recent version of the operating system will highlight the device against similar tablets. The presence of a 3G modem is also pleasing, not always such a component is provided in the "bedside" 10-inch tablets. In general, a decent example among representatives of the budget class.
