The film "Steve Jobs" in the United States is so bad that he was expelled from showing in 2072 cinemas

The columnist for Cult of Mac noted that the Steve Jobs biopic on October 9 was so unpopular in the United States that 2072 movie theaters stopped simultaneously. Over the past weekend, the film was able to collect a modest box office at $ 797,795, which is almost 70% less than the same result last week. For comparison, you can notice, accepting the fact that the genres of films vary significantly, but are approximately equal in terms of Hollywood stars: The Martian has been in the box office for 38 days (a full week longer) and has earned more than $ 9 million.

Now a new film about the life of the founder of Apple continues to show only in 421 cinemas. Continuing the theme of comparison, we can say that the film released in 2013, known in Russian localization as “Jobs: the Empire of Temptation”, with Ashton Kutcher in the title role, lost quite a bit on the fees of the new film with clearly incomparable budgets. If the 2013 film cost the creators $ 12 million, then “Steve Jobs” cost Universal the already more significant $ 30 million. Comparison with such grandees of hire as the new James Bond film Spectrum with its $ 70 million earned over the weekend hardly makes sense: Steve Jobs collected a total box office of $ 16,658,868 for the entire rental period.

The reviews of many people about the film who personally knew Steve Jobs were very controversial. So Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak spoke positively about the film: “I looked at the picture and I got the feeling that I was watching the real Steve Jobs and his associates, and not the actors. I respect Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin [director and screenwriter] for such accuracy. " On the contrary, Steve Jobs' widow Lauren Powell found the film disgusting, and Tim Cook accused its creators of "pursuit of profit." During mutual rivals, Sorkin almost insulted the current head of Apple, saying that the company exploited the work of children, paying them 17 cents per hour, but apologized in time.

In Russia, the premiere of the film "Steve Jobs" will be held on January 1, 2016. Russian movie trailer can be seen below:
