Project Wing, a drone delivery system project from Google, is undergoing a testing phase
Google is continuing to work on its Project Wing project. The goal of the project is to create hardware and software for the delivery of small loads. By “hardware” is meant a specialized unmanned aerial vehicle. The project is moving forward, and just yesterday, a test video was uploaded to Tiwtter.
Google claims that the speed of such a drone is 8 kilometers in 5 minutes. In principle, pretty quickly, it’s only a pity that it is not reported how long the battery lasts.

The project itself was launched last summer , in response to an initiative from Amazon that Jeff Bezos introduced earlier. However, one program is not equivalent to another, since Google's development is positioned as a delivery system in emergencies / disasters. In flight, the cargo is placed in a special compartment located between the wings of the device. Planned flight altitude: 40-60 meters. The accuracy of the device is the size of the door threshold (that is, a slip can be a maximum of a couple of tens of centimeters).
True, it is still unknown when the project will exit the testing stage, and will be used for commercial / non-commercial purposes. However, Google has already announced that as soon as the government approves the project, it will be possible to launch an army of such drones.
Despite the prohibitions on the use of drones in some regions (almost throughout the United States, such a delivery system, as well as flights of drones in settlements, are prohibited by a special regulation of the Federal Civil Aviation Administration), large and not very companies continue to test the delivery system using drones. So, a similar system has already been tested in the work of US and European companies (though, for the most part, even before the ban). Most likely, the FDA will have to recognize the possibility of using drones for delivery or other purposes, since this niche continues to be mastered by large and reputable companies, with good lobbying opportunities.
