Today Acer has released two new laptops from the category of low-cost devices: their features are price, small size of internal storage and most recently released Windows 10. Both laptops were released as part of the Acer Aspire One Cloudbooks line, which was announced about a month ago. It is with the word “cloud” that the manufacturer explains that the volume of eMMC storage in “cloudbooks” is very modest - in the older and most expensive model it is 64 GB. It is assumed that the owner of such a laptop will store all the information in the cloud. The cheapest version of the presented line - Cloudbook 11 - costs $ 169.99, a better model - Cloudbook 14 - $ 199.99.

Both devices have the same hardware component, but differ in screen sizes of 11 and 14 inches, respectively. The processor uses the Intel Celeron N3050 Dual-core Airmont 1.6-2.16GHz , Intel HD Graphics 12 EUs 320-600MHz is responsible for the integrated graphics . The amount of RAM DDR3L memory is 2 GB. From wireless communications, standard 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 are presented. There is also one USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port, an SD card slot, and an HDMI output. There is no active cooling. The battery life for Cloudbook 11 is announced at 7 hours, for Cloudbook 14 this figure is 6 hours.

Then the differences begin. Depending on the selected size of the internal eMMC storage - 16 or 32 GB - the younger Cloudbook 11 model will cost either $ 169.99 or $ 189.99, respectively. Cloudbook 14 has storage capacity of 32 GB (twice as much 64 GB is planned for the next releases) and will cost $ 199.99. The buyer will receive an annual subscription to Office 365 from Microsoft and 1 TB of storage in OneDrive cloud storage.

Cloudbooks are called to compete with the Chromebooks in the segment of cheap computers for working on the Internet. In March this year, ASUS in collaboration with Google showedtwo cheap laptops with ARM processors, an 11-inch screen, 16 GB of internal storage, and ChromeOS on board for $ 149. The option from Acer costs a little more, but it has an important advantage in the form of Windows 10, which does not require an Internet connection.
