Microsoft abandons the Windows Phone brand, meet Windows Mobile. Again
In the life of every person there are times when he does not know whether to laugh at him or cry from what is happening. This situation is one of those. Microsoft is abandoning Windows Phone and is returning to the Windows Mobile brand, reports The Verge . Microsoft began abandoning the Windows Phone brand back in September, along with the abolition of Nokia, and has now introduced an official replacement. As the release of Windows 10 approaches, the software maker is abandoning the Windows Phone brand in favor of Windows 10 Mobile.
The basis of this logic is the argument that “Mobile” is a more capacious and at the same time broader definition for the new version of the OS on which mobile devices will work. And the logic in the actions of Microsoft is. The new name of the brand covers not only phones, but also other mobile devices, such as tablets.
Over the years, the Windows Mobile brand has undergone a number of changes. First it was Windows Mobile 2003, then Windows Mobile 5, and then Windows Mobile 6. With the release of Win7, the Windows Phone (7) brand was born, and after Windows Phone 8.
Since the new OS of the company is numbered 10, the rejection of Windows Phone is not just rebranding, but a return to the old, most popular name for mobile OS from Microsoft. Windows 10 Mobile fits quite naturally with its predecessor line and continues with the numbering that the company once abandoned.
If you think about it, should we wait for Windows Mobile not only on Microsoft phones, but, possibly, on some other devices? Some products of the Surface line company worked until this day running a full version of Windows. Perhaps, with the advent of an expanded brand in value, we can expect changes in the company's policy in this direction. Microsoft is trying to change the public opinion about its OS, as, first of all, about the OS for desktop computers and laptops. Perhaps Windows 10 Mobile will be able to help them with this.
